The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Sakarya BSB as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Buyukcekmece) loss. Sakarya BSB smashed 8th ranked Gediz in Sakaraya 75-49. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gediz. The game without a history. Sakarya BSB led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They outrebounded Gediz 40-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Hadi Ozdemir (203-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Yigitcan Turna (187-87) contributed with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American forward K'Zell Wesson (201-77, college: La Salle) replied with 8 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Lionel Chalmers (183-80, college: Xavier) added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Gediz. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sakarya BSB have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Buyukcekmece and Denizli. Gediz at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eighth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Gediz will play next round against Mersin trying to get back on the winning streak. Sakarya BSB will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
