Eleventh-ranked Canik Bld (5-12) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (13-4) in Samsun on Sunday. The visitors from Istanbul managed to secure only one-point victory 69-68. However their fans expected much easier game. Canik Bld was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Istanbul Universitesi forced 19 Canik Bld turnovers. American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) nailed a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and the former international point guard Ozge Yavas (170-91) accounted for 18 points and 4 assists. The former international forward Gokce Dogan (175-86) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and Kazakhstan-Belarusian forward Katerina Snytsina (188-85) added 18 points and 6 assists respectively for Canik Bld in the defeat. Four Canik Bld players scored in double figures. Istanbul Universitesi moved-up to third place, which they share with Fenerbahce. Canik Bld lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Istanbul Universitesi will meet at home league's second-placed Abdullah Gul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Canik Bld will play against Osmaniye (#14) and hope to secure a win.
