Everything went according to plan when second ranked Weissenhorn Youngstars (15-5) beat at home 11th ranked Speyer (6-14) 81-64 on Sunday. Weissenhorn Youngstars dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Speyer's 34. Weissenhorn Youngstars looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Power forward Nils Mittmann (201-79) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Canadian guard Jordan Baker (201-91, college: Alberta) chipped in 13 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Weissenhorn Youngstars players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import Marcus Smallwood (200-82, college: N.Illinois, agency: R.H.Consultancy) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Weissenhorn Youngstars have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place in Group South with 15-5 record behind leader Iserlohn. Loser Speyer keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Weissenhorn Youngstars will face TV Langen (#9) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Speyer will play against Dragons Rhoendorf and hope to win that game.
