Regular Season Round 30: Neptunas - P.Zvaigzdes 89-97

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Neptunas (24-4) against fifth ranked P.Zvaigzdes (16-11) on Wednesday night. Host Neptunas was defeated by P.Zvaigzdes in a tough game in Klaipeda 89-97. Neptunas was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 52-37 second half run of P.Zvaigzdes. They made 26-of-34 charity shots (76.5 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. Neptunas was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Laimonas Kisielius (203-85, college: William & Mary) who led his team to a victory with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Evaldas Kairys (207-90) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four P.Zvaigzdes players scored in double figures. The former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-88) replied with 25 points and the former international forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Neptunas. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. P.Zvaigzdes have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Juventus. Neptunas at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. P.Zvaigzdes will play against Dzukija (#6) in Alytus in the next round. Neptunas will play at home against Tonybet (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
