Regular Season Round 25: Utena - Ruta-Univ. 94-70

LMKL top team - Utena (24-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Ruta-Univ. (0-25) 94-70. The game without a history. Utena led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ruta-Univ.'s 34. They outrebounded Ruta-Univ. 43-25 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Utena brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. International center Kristina Alminaite (205-90) nailed a double-double by scoring 10 points, 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 blocks for the winning side and American guard Hollie Mershon (178-90, college: Drexel, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 15 points and 5 assists. Five Utena players scored in double figures. point guard Viktorija Juodeikyte (163-93) came up with 12 points and 7 assists and center Karolina Zvikaite (184-96) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Ruta-Univ. in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Utena. They maintain first place with 24-1 record. Ruta-Univ. lost their twenty fifth game in a row. They still close the standings. Utena will play against Jaunieji Talentai (#7) in Vilnius in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Ruta-Univ. will play at home against Fortuna and hopes to get finally their first victory.
