Regular Season Round 25: Suduva - Fortuna 93-92

Fourth-ranked Fortuna (12-12) gave a tough game to second ranked Suduva (19-6) in Marijampole on Friday. Suduva managed to secure only one-point victory 93-92. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fortuna won fourth quarter 25-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Suduva made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. The former international power forward Iveta Salkauske (197-82, college: Illinois) stepped up and scored 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her seven free throws) for the winners and forward Sandra Baliutaviciute (182-81) chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. At the losing side international Monika Grigalauskyte (190-92) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Lina Aglinskaite (182-87) scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Fortuna's coach Ramune Kumpiene rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Suduva have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 19-6 record having five points less than leader Utena. Fortuna at the other side keeps the fourth position with 12 games lost. Suduva are looking forward to face Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (#6) on the road in the next round. Fortuna will play against Ruta-Univ. in Siauliai and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
