Seventh-ranked Yambol (6-11) made lots of trouble for first ranked Lukoil Acad. (16-1) on Friday. The visitors from Sofia managed to secure only five-point victory 108-103. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime then Yambol managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Lukoil Acad. who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 19-14. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Lukoil Acad. forced 19 Yambol turnovers. Yambol was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Dee Brown (185-84, college: Illinois) fired a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 10 assists for the winners. Serbian-Montenegrin forward Nikola Dragovic (206-87, college: UCLA) chipped in a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Lukoil Acad.'s coach Jovica Arsic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Tyler Laser (185-88, college: E.Illinois) produced 38 points (!!!) and 6 assists and forward Stoyan Petkov (198-85) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Lukoil Acad. and five Yambol players scored in double figures. Lukoil Acad. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 16-1 record. Yambol at the other side keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. Lukoil Acad. will face league's second-placed Balkan in Botevgrad in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Yambol will play on the road against Beroe (#6) in Stara Zagora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
