Second Stage Round 12: Zalgiris II - Palanga 81-91

Everything could happen in Kaunas at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Palanga and 9th ranked Zalgiris II had identical 18-17 record. But Zalgiris II was not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Palanga 91-81. The game was mostly controlled by Palanga. Zalgiris II was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Palanga won last quarter 28-20. They made 30-of-35 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Zalgiris II helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for center Deividas Keburys (202-90) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Deividas Anuzis (184-92) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Paulius Valinskas (190-95) replied with 20 points and power forward Laurynas Birutis (210-97) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Zalgiris II. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Palanga have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 19-17 record. Zalgiris II at the other side dropped to the sixth place with 18 games lost. Palanga will have a break next round.
