No shocking result in a game when second ranked Balkan (13-4) smashed on the road bottom-ranked Spartak Pleven (0-17) 89-61 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Balkan. Spartak Pleven was better in fourth quarter 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Balkan dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Spartak Pleven's 28. Balkan forced 21 Spartak Pleven turnovers and outrebounded them 37-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Montenegrin center Vukota Pavic (203-93, agency: Beo Basket) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Balkan's coach Aleksandar Todorov felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Milen Zahariev (190-92) produced 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Veselin Georgiev (192-86) added 8 points respectively for lost side. Balkan have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-4 record having just three points less than leader Lukoil Acad. Loser Spartak Pleven still closes the standings. Balkan will face league's leader Lukoil Acad. in Sofia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Spartak Pleven will play at home against Rilski (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
