Second Stage Round 13: Ezerunas-Karys - Suduva-Mantinga 65-95

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Moletai. Third ranked Suduva-Mantinga faced their biggest opponent Ezerunas-Karys. Guests from Marijampole (23-14) smashed host Ezerunas-Karys (23-13) 95-65. It looked good early as Ezerunas-Karys took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Suduva-Mantinga had a 27-16 second period charge getting the lead and Ezerunas-Karys was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-95. Suduva-Mantinga shot 62.7 percent from the field. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Aurimas Kieza (202-82, college: Hofstra) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Paulius Petrilevicius (200-91) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Suduva-Mantinga players scored in double figures. Suduva-Mantinga's coach Giedrius Zibenas felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Evaldas Baniulis (201-87, college: S.Carolina) answered with 23 points and forward Raimundas Ambrulaitis (200-82) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Ezerunas-Karys. Suduva-Mantinga maintains third place with 23-14 record having just -5 point less than leader Perlas-MRU. Ezerunas-Karys at the other side keeps the second position with 13 games lost. Suduva-Mantinga will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ezerunas-Karys will play at home against Petrochema and hopes to get back on the winning track.
