Second Stage Round 5: Stevnsgade - Amager 71-54

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Amager (4-1) on the court of fourth ranked Stevnsgade on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Stevnsgade 71-54. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Amager. The game was mostly controlled by Stevnsgade. Amager managed to win third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Stevnsgade forced 23 Amager turnovers. Swingman Ida Pretzmann (178-90, college: TCU) stepped up and scored 14 points and 5 assists for the winners and forward Cecilie Homann (185-89) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Stevnsgade players scored in double figures. American forward Lauren Gregory (185-87, college: Vanguard) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Melanie Elmgreen (174-92) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Stevnsgade (2-3) moved-up to third place in Places 1-4. Amager at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Stevnsgade are again looking forward to face league's leader Amager in Kastrup in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Amager will have a break next round.
