Regular Season Round 21: Steaua CSM - Timba Timis. 102-82

Liga Nationala top team - Steaua CSM (16-3) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Timba Timosoara (4-15) in Bucuresti 102-82. The game was mostly controlled by Steaua CSM. Timba Timosoara managed to win fourth quarter 28-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Steaua CSM made 27-of-35 free shots (77.1 percent) during the game. Croatian guard Pankracije Barac (196-81, agency: Court Side) nailed 20 points, 7 assists and 6 steals (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) for the winning side and Bosnian-Serbian guard Goran Ikonic (196-80, agency: BeoExcell) accounted for 18 points and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Serbian power forward Danilo Mijatovic (207-83) came up with 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and American guard Larry Hall (190-83, college: W.Oregon) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Timba Timosoara in the defeat. Five Steaua CSM and four Timba Timosoara players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Steaua CSM maintains first place with 16-3 record. Timba Timosoara lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Steaua CSM will meet CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Timba Timosoara will play against U-Banca TR (#3) and hope to secure a win.
