LPB top team - Benfica (15-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Lusitania (8-9) 97-87. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lusitania. Benfica made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. American guard Jobey Thomas (194-80, college: Charlotte) nailed 36 points (!!!) and 6 assists for the winning side and the former international forward Carlos Andrade (197-78, college: Queens, NC) accounted for 21 points and 9 rebounds. Four Benfica players scored in double figures. American guard Cavel Witter (183-87, college: Creighton) came up with 32 points and the other American import forward Willis Hall (198-90, college: Charleston, agency: Court Side) added 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for Lusitania in the defeat. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-2 record. Lusitania at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Oliveirense and Alges. Benfica will play against bottom-ranked Sampaense (#12) in Coimbra in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Lusitania will play at home against Illiabum (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
