The game in Dudenhofen was also quite interesting. Third ranked BasCats Heidelberg (14-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (10-9). BasCats Heidelberg managed to secure a 5-point victory 79-74 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 28-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Sara Kranzhofer (172-96) who led the winners and scored 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her nine free throws !!!). American point guard Serena Benavente (167-85, college: St.Mary's, CA) accounted for 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Four BasCats Heidelberg players scored in double figures. Forward Martina Kraus (186-90) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds and Canadian forward Grace Fishbein (180-90) added 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Speyer / Schifferstadt in the defeat. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for BasCats Heidelberg. They maintain third place in South with 14-5 record behind leader Veilchen. Speyer / Schifferstadt lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with nine games lost. BasCats Heidelberg will meet at home ASC Theresianum Mainz (#5) in the next round. Speyer / Schifferstadt will play against Rhein MB II in Langen and hope to secure a win.
