Regular Season Round 13: Kyiv-Vovcha - Avangard 77-109

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kyiv: Avangard (#2) and Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya (#8). Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya was crushed at home by 32 points 77-109 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Avangard. Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya managed to win fourth quarter 32-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Avangard dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya's 44. Avangard forced 22 Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya's players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Vladlen Berezhnyy (199-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Gennadiy Dzyuba (193-91) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Five Avangard players scored in double figures. Avangard's coach Andrei Podkovyrov felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Anton Musienko (190-97) answered with 33 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 8 assists and forward Danil Ovcharenko (201-98) added 8 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya. Avangard have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 13-7 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Zolotoi Vek. Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya at the other side stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Avangard are looking forward to face Khimik-2 (#5) in Yuzhny in the next round. Kyiv-Vovcha zgraya will play at home against Zaporozhye and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
