Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Cherkasy (13-12) and Hoverla (7-17), which took place in Frankivsk. Higher ranked Cherkasy lost to ninth ranked Hoverla in a road game 64-76 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Hoverla. Cherkasy managed to win third quarter 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hoverla looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Forward Oleksandr Antypov (202-95) nailed 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and point guard Igor Boyarkin (185-95) accounted for 13 points, 15 assists and 4 steals. Four Hoverla players scored in double figures. Naturalized Moldovan Andrii Kalnichenko (201-86) came up with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and British forward Ashley Hamilton (201-88, college: Loyola Mary) added 19 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Cherkasy in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hoverla maintains ninth place with 7-17 record. Loser Cherkasy dropped to the fourth position with 12 games lost. They share it with BC Kyiv. Hoverla will meet higher ranked Mykolaiv (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cherkasy will play against the league's second-placed Budivelnyk and will have a slim chance for a victory.
