Regular Season Round 29: Dnipro - BC Kyiv 85-53

An interesting game for Dnipro (16-10) which hosted in Dnepropetrovsk 4th placed BC Kyiv (13-12). Third ranked Dnipro had an easy win 85-53. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of BC Kyiv. The game without a history. Dnipro led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to BC Kyiv's 32. They outrebounded BC Kyiv 52-32 including a 39-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Dnipro made 8 blocks. Center Sergiy Zagreba (214-94) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Vitali Malchevskiy (204-87) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Dnipro's coach Valdemaras Chomicius felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international Ruslan Otverchenko (192-90, agency: Beo Basket) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds and the former international Artem Shvets (200-85) added 10 points in the effort for BC Kyiv. Dnipro have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain third place with 16-10 record having eight points less than leader Khimik. BC Kyiv at the other side keeps the fourth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Cherkasy. Dnipro are looking forward to face Mykolaiv (#6) in Mykolaiv in the next round. BC Kyiv will play at home against DniproAzot and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
