Second Stage Round 14: Palanga - Rasai 85-84

A very interesting game took place in Palanga. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 11th ranked Rasai (17-20) to eighth ranked Palanga (20-17) 85-84 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rasai. The hosts were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 28-24 run, which allowed them to win the game. Palanga players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. The best player for the winners was center Adomas Drungilas (203-90) who scored 28 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Travis Garrison (203-84, college: Maryland) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Forward Valdemaras Savostjanovas (200-84) produced 20 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and guard Giedrius Kurtinaitis (194-86) added 27 points respectively for the guests. Rasai's coach Albertas Vilimas tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Palanga have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 20-17 record. Newly promoted Rasai dropped to the seventh place with 20 games lost. Palanga's next round opponent will be Silute (#13) on the road where they are favorite.
