Regular Season Round 25: Ludwigsburg - Bayreuth 93-67
Date: March 6, 2015
Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked BBC Bayreuth (9-16) was outplayed on the road by eighth ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (13-12) 93-67. The game was mostly controlled by EnBW Ludwigsburg. BBC Bayreuth was better in fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. EnBW Ludwigsburg dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to BBC Bayreuth's 32 and made 23-of-26 charity shots (88.5 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by BBC Bayreuth helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American swingman D.J. Kennedy (198-89, college: St.John's) nailed 27 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and his fellow American import point guard Kerron Johnson (185-90, college: Belmont) accounted for 14 points and 7 assists. American forward Javon McCrea (201-92, college: Buffalo) came up with 19 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Polish swingman David Brembly (197-93) added 16 points respectively for BBC Bayreuth in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the third consecutive win for EnBW Ludwigsburg. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Fraport SKY. BBC Bayreuth lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 16 games lost. EnBW Ludwigsburg's next round opponent will be higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (#5) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BBC Bayreuth will play against BG Goettingen (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
