Important game to mention about took place in Istanbul. Third ranked Darussafaka (15-6) saved a 2-point derby victory at home edging 5th ranked Banvit BK (12-9) 69-67 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Banvit BK. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-15. But Banvit BK won second period 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Naturalized American power forward Ersin Dagli (203-81, college: Alabama, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Jordan Farmar (188-86, college: UCLA) chipped in 15 points. The best for the losing side was American-Azerbaijani center Charles Davis (205-84, college: Alabama) with 19 points and American-Bulgarian point guard Earl Rowland (188-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) scored 12 points and 8 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Darussafaka have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Darussafaka maintains third place with 15-6 record behind leader Anadolu Efes. Banvit BK at the other side keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. They share it with Galatasaray. Darussafaka will play against Trabzonspor (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Banvit BK will play against Eskisehir Basket in Edirne and hopes to get back on the winning track.
