Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Science City Jena (16-10) won against on the road 9th ranked Baunach (11-15) 83-76 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Baunach won fourth quarter 29-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Science City Jena made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Baunach was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. Point guard David Hicks (183-88, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: LUMANI 10.7) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Brady Morningstar (190-86, college: Kansas, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St.) replied with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Anthony Lee-Ingram (195-88, college: Brescia, KY) added 20 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Baunach. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Science City Jena have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 16-10 record. Newly promoted Baunach keeps the ninth place with 15 games lost. Science City Jena will face higher ranked Nuernberg (#3) in Nurnberg in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Baunach will play at home against Ehingen/Urspringschule (#16) and hope to win that game.
