Regular Season Round 26: Nuernberg - Vechta 94-72
Date: March 7, 2015
Very expected game when 9th ranked SC Rasta Vechta (11-15) was smashed by third ranked Nuernberg (19-7) in Nurnberg 94-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Nuernberg. SC Rasta Vechta was better in fourth quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nuernberg made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. American point guard Braydon Hobbs (196-89, college: Bellarmine) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. American-Dominican Antonio Pena (204-86, college: Villanova) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Four Nuernberg players scored in double figures. American point guard Derek Wright (179-86, college: Austin Peay St.) replied with 25 points and center Oliver Mackeldanz (212-90) added 8 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for SC Rasta Vechta. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Nuernberg moved-up to second place, which they share with Giessen 46ers. Loser SC Rasta Vechta keeps the ninth position with 15 games lost. Nuernberg will face Science City Jena (#5) on the road in the next round. SC Rasta Vechta will play against the league's second-placed Giessen 46ers (#2) and hope to win that game.
