We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Porto where 9th ranked Vasco (4-12) was crushed by tenth ranked Atletico (5-12) 96-72. The game without a history. Atletico led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Vasco's 32. Atletico forced 21 Vasco turnovers and outrebounded them 48-36 including a 37-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Vasco was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for the former international swingman Joao Manuel (192-79) who helped to win the game recording 29 points. Swingman Jorge Afonso (192-79) contributed with 16 points, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Atletico players scored in double figures. Paulo Vieira answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Felissanio Torres added 8 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Vasco. Vasco's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Atletico moved-up to ninth place. Vasco lost their eighth game in a row. Vasco at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth position with 12 games lost. Atletico's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Lisboa Academia.
