Regular Season Round 28: Kapfenberg - Zepter Vienna 104-76

There was a change at the A Bundesliga leadership position after last games. Round 28 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Zepter Vienna (20-8). They were crushed by fifth ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (17-11) 104-76 on Monday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zepter Vienna. The game was mostly controlled by Kapfenberg Bulls. Zepter Vienna managed to win third quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kapfenberg Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Zepter Vienna's 38. It was a great shooting night for Kapfenberg Bulls especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Shawn Ray (194-80, college: N.C.Central) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and international forward Joe Dean Shaw (199-87, college: Nevada) who added 17 points and 5 assists during the contest. Kapfenberg Bulls' coach Michael Schrittwieser felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international guard Stjepan Stazic (199-78) responded with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists and American forward Amin Stevens (201-90, college: Florida A&M) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five Kapfenberg Bulls and four Zepter Vienna players scored in double figures. Kapfenberg Bulls have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Wels and Gmunden. Zepter Vienna at the other side still keeps top position with eight games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Gussing who have the same record. Zepter Vienna will play next round against Furstenfeld Panthers trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Kapfenberg Bulls will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Dukes in Klosterneuburg.
