Oettinger Rockets Gotha (#4) was upset in Gotha by eighth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg 53-47. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 15-12. But Oettinger Rockets Gotha won second period 10-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when MLP Academics Heidelberg won last quarter 16-11. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Kelvin Martin (195-89, college: Charleston So.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Naturalized American center Waverly Austin (211-91, college: Oregon) accounted for 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Four MLP Academics Heidelberg players scored in double figures. American guard Carlton Guyton (193-90, college: Kent St.) came up with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import center Will Reinke (208-90, college: Oklah.Christian) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Oettinger Rockets Gotha in the defeat. Oettinger Rockets Gotha's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. MLP Academics Heidelberg (14-13) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with ETB Wohnbau. Oettinger Rockets Gotha at the other side keeps the fourth position with ten games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will play against SC Rasta Vechta (#10) at home in the next round. Oettinger Rockets Gotha will play against Hamburg (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
