Regular Season Round 18: Haskovo 2012 - Neftochimic 81-87

An interesting game for Neftochimic (14-4) which played road game in Haskovo against 3rd ranked Haskovo 2012 (12-6). First ranked Neftochimic managed to get a 6-point victory 87-81. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Haskovo 2012 won fourth quarter 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Neftochimic dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Haskovo 2012's 42. They outrebounded Haskovo 2012 40-29 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for the former international center Vera Perostiyska (195-82, college: FIU) who led her team to a victory with 24 points and 7 rebounds. International center Lidia Milkova (192-70) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Neftochimic's coach Detcho Koeshinov used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ukrainian guard Olga Dubrovina (170-87) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 assists (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) and Latvian center Anita Teilane (196-85) added 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks in the effort for Haskovo 2012. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Neftochimic maintains first position with 14-4 record. Haskovo 2012 lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with six games lost. Neftochimic are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Levski (#6) in Sofia in the next round where they are favorite. Haskovo 2012 will play on the road against Rilski Sportist in Samokov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
