There was no surprise in Gaziantep where 15th ranked Tofas (7-15) was defeated by tenth ranked Royal Hali (10-12) 69-51 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-51. American guard Cory Higgins (195-89, college: Colorado, agency: Interperformances) scored 19 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Altan Erol (194-83) chipped in 8 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American swingman Lamar Patterson (196-91, college: Pittsburgh) responded with 14 points and his fellow American import point guard DaShaun Wood (185-85, college: Wright St.) scored 10 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Royal Hali moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Tofas at the other side keeps the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Royal Hali will face higher ranked Karsiyaka (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tofas will play against Trabzonspor (#9) and hope to win that game.
