Regular Season Round 21: Zehlendorf - Barmer TV 56-77

Bottom-ranked Zehlendorf (0-21) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 77-56 loss to eighth ranked Barmer TV (10-11) in Berlin on Saturday evening. They also forced 23 Zehlendorf turnovers. Zehlendorf was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Chantal Neuwald (180-95) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Savannah Morgan (173-92, college: Emory) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Four Barmer TV players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Patricia Brossmann (181-97) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and Latvian forward Liene Jekabsone (185-88, college: FIU) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Zehlendorf's coach Ricardo Alves gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Barmer TV moved-up to seventh place in North, which they share with Hannover. Zehlendorf lost their twenty first game in a row. Zehlendorf at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with 21 games lost. Barmer TV will face Baskets Grunberg (#10) in Gruenberg in the next round. Zehlendorf will play on the road against Hagen Phoenix and hopes to get finally their first victory.
