LPB top team - Benfica (17-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked Maia Basket (7-12) 108-54. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maia Basket. The game without a history. Benfica led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Maia Basket's 38 and made 17-of-18 charity shots (94.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Maia Basket 41-22 including a 29-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Benfica players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Maia Basket's players. It was a great evening for the former international forward Carlos Andrade (197-78, college: Queens, NC) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. International forward Joao Soares (202-90, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Benfica players scored in double figures. Benfica's coach Carlos Lisboa felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international center Elvis Evora (205-78) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds and center Paulo Diamantino (203-85) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Benfica have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-2 record. Maia Basket at the other side keeps the ninth position with 12 games lost.
