Regular Season Round 28: Giessen 46ers - Jena 68-61

Date: March 15, 2015
Rather expected game when 5th ranked Science City Jena (16-12) was defeated on the road by third ranked Giessen 46ers (20-8) 68-61. It looked good early as Science City Jena took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Giessen 46ers had a 18-13 second period charge getting the lead and Science City Jena was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-68. They outrebounded Science City Jena 35-22 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by Cuban swingman Yorman Polas (192-85) who scored that evening 16 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized American guard T.J. DiLeo (190-90, college: Temple) supported him with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Even 16 points by forward Julius Wolf (202-93, agency: LUMANI 10.7) did not help to save the game for Science City Jena. American guard Brady Morningstar (190-86, college: Kansas, agency: Interperformances) added 8 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Giessen 46ers maintains third position with 20-8 record having six points less than leader s.Oliver Baskets. Science City Jena at the other side keeps the fifth place with 12 games lost. Giessen 46ers' next round opponent will be Finke Baskets (#12) in Paderborn and are hoping to win another game. Science City Jena will play on the road against SC Rasta Vechta (#10) and hope to win that game.
