Date: March 15, 2015
Second ranked Avangard (15-7) crushed at home 5th ranked Khimik-2 (9-11) by 18 points 114-96, which is the biggest margin this round. The game was mostly controlled by Avangard. Khimik-2 was better in second period 31-30. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Avangard players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Khimik-2 was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Egor Maslyuchenko (200-90) notched 24 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international guard Maxim Balashov (190-80, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) supported him with 20 points and 7 assists. Even 23 points by Vitalii Shibel (200-97) did not help to save the game for Khimik-2. point guard Illya Sidorov (184-96) added 5 points, 13 assists and 4 steals for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Avangard have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-7 record having just -4 point less than leader Zolotoi Vek. Khimik-2 lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 11 games lost. Avangard will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Khimik-2 will play at home against VolinBasket (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
