Regular Season Round 28: s.Oliver Baskets - Bayer Giants 83-69

Leader s Oliver Baskets delivered the twenty sixth victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 13th ranked Bayer Giants (9-19) 83-69 in Wuerzburg. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bayer Giants. The game was mostly controlled by s Oliver Baskets. Bayer Giants managed to win second period 19-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when s Oliver Baskets won last quarter 25-13. They made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. s Oliver Baskets outrebounded Bayer Giants 47-27 including a 47-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a quality performance of American center Darren Fenn (208-80, college: Canisius, agency: LUMANI 10.7) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import forward Samme Givens (198-89, college: Drexel) who added 16 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side Goetz Twiehoff (198-85) responded with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American guard Marc Sonnen (190-90, college: N.Iowa) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. s Oliver Baskets (26-2) have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Loser Bayer Giants dropped to the fourteenth place with 19 games lost. They share the position with Cuxhaven. s Oliver Baskets will meet at home league's second-placed Nuernberg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bayer Giants will play against ETB Wohnbau (#6) and hope to secure a win.
