Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Mazeikiai (3-30) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Siauliai (15-16) 90-81. The guests were already 12 points ahead at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 26-21 last quarter charge of Mazeikiai cut the lead to 90-81 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Mazeikiai 31-19 including 22 on the defensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Mazeikiai helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) nailed 24 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and naturalized Swiss guard Rolandas Alijevas (192-85, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) accounted for 20 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Sidney Sanders (180-92, college: Fair Dickinson) came up with 22 points and the other American import forward Tyler Olander (208-92, college: Connecticut) added 9 points respectively for Mazeikiai in the defeat. Mazeikiai's coach Aloyzas Rudys rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Siauliai. They maintain seventh place with 15-16 record. Mazeikiai lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 30 lost games. Siauliai's next round opponent will be higher ranked Juventus (#4) in Utena and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mazeikiai will play at home against Neptunas (#3) and hope to win that game.
