Regular Season Round 22: Rilski - Beroe 88-72

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Beroe's (8-12) road loss to fifth ranked Rilski (12-7) 72-88. It looked good early as Beroe took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Rilski had a 29-13 second period charge getting the lead and Beroe was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 72-88. They outrebounded Beroe 39-25 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for the former international guard Yordan Bozov (191-79, agency: Global Sports Plaza) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. The former international guard Zlatin Georgiev (196-85) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Rilski players scored in double figures. American guard Mike Black (183-90, college: Albany) replied with 30 points and the former international Pavlin Ivanov (194-93, agency: Beo Basket) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Beroe. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rilski moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Cherno More. Beroe at the other side keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. Rilski will play against higher ranked Levski Sofia (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Beroe will play against Spartak Pleven and hopes to get back on the winning track.
