Twelfth-ranked Hatay (6-16) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Istanbul Universitesi (14-7) on Wednesday. Istanbul Universitesi managed to secure only two-point victory 67-65. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 16-8 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. The former international center Nevin Nevlin (193-85, college: Stanford) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian guard Kamile Nacickaite (181-89, college: Drexel) chipped in 17 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Istanbul Universitesi players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Natasha Lacy (178-85, college: UTEP, agency: Merit Management Group) responded with 28 points and 4 steals and her fellow American import center Lynetta Kizer (193-90, college: Maryland) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Istanbul Universitesi moved-up to fourth place. Loser Hatay keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Istanbul Universitesi will meet Mersin (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Hatay will play against Osmaniye and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
