Regular Season Round 27: Art.Dragons - Bayreuth 87-74

Date: March 21, 2015
Not a big story in a game in Quakenbrueck where 14th ranked BBC Bayreuth (9-18) was defeated by tenth ranked Artland Dragons (13-13) 87-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Artland Dragons. BBC Bayreuth managed to win second period 21-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Artland Dragons shot 62.7 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 57.1 percentage. Artland Dragons looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Brandon Thomas (198-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: Three Eye Sports) who scored 22 points. Guard David McCray (187-86) chipped in 22 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Ronnie Burrell (204-83, college: NC-Greensboro) who recorded 20 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import forward Brandon Bowman (206-84, college: Georgetown) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Four BBC Bayreuth players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Artland Dragons moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Braunschweig. BBC Bayreuth lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with MBC. Artland Dragons will meet higher ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BBC Bayreuth will play against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#16) and hope to secure a win.
