Regular Season Round 27: Telekom Bsk - Ludwigsburg 87-80

Rather predictable result in Bonn where fifth ranked Telekom Baskets (17-9) defeated 9th ranked EnBW Ludwigsburg (13-14) 87-80 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-80. Telekom Baskets made 23-of-26 free shots (88.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American-Italian forward Angelo Caloiaro (205-89, college: USF) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Lithuanian guard Benas Veikalas (192-83, college: Metro St.) chipped in 21 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Jon Brockman (201-87, college: Washington) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import swingman D.J. Kennedy (198-89, college: St.John's) added 22 points respectively. Five Telekom Baskets and four EnBW Ludwigsburg players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Telekom Baskets maintains fifth place with 17-9 record. EnBW Ludwigsburg at the other side dropped to the tenth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Goettingen. Telekom Baskets will meet league's second-placed ALBA Berlin on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. EnBW Ludwigsburg will play against the league's leader Brose Baskets (#1) and hope to secure a win.
