Regular Season Round 23: Galatasaray - Turk Telekom 76-80

There was an upset in Istanbul where higher ranked Galatasaray (13-10) was defeated by tenth ranked Turk Telekom (11-12) 80-76 on Monday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Galatasaray won fourth quarter 18-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American power forward Ben McCauley (206-86, college: N.Carolina St.) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Latvian point guard Kristaps Valters (190-81) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. Turk Telekom's coach Ercument Sunter used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Serbian Zoran Erceg (210-85) produced 16 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Justin Carter (193-87, college: Creighton) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Five Turk Telekom and four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. Turk Telekom moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Royal Hali and Torku Konyaspor. Loser Galatasaray keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Turk Telekom will face Istanbul BSB (#12) at home in the next round. Galatasaray will play against Royal Hali (#9) in Gaziantep and hope to win that game.
