Fourth-ranked Istanbul Universitesi (16-8) gave a tough game to first ranked Galatasaray (22-2) on Wednesday. The visitors managed to secure only three-point victory 61-58. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 61-58. Galatasaray dominated on the defensive end, holding Istanbul Universitesi to just 6 points in second quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish point guard Nuria Martinez (175-84) who helped to win the game recording 6 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists and Vincentian-Spanish center Sancho Lyttle (193-83, college: Houston) who added 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) with 23 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Nevin Nevlin (193-85, college: Stanford, agency: GoaBasket) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Galatasaray have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 22-2 record. Istanbul Universitesi at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Galatasaray are looking forward to face Canik Bld (#11) in Samsun in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul Universitesi will play on the road against Orduspor (#7) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
