Regular Season Round 34: DniproAzot - Mykolaiv 94-71

We should mention about the upset which took place in Dniprodzerzhynsk, where 7th ranked Mykolaiv (11-18) was outleveled in a road game by tenth ranked DniproAzot (8-20) 94-71. The game was mostly controlled by DniproAzot. Mykolaiv was better in third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. DniproAzot dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mykolaiv's 30. They outrebounded Mykolaiv 44-27 including a 34-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. DniproAzot players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by Mykolaiv's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Eugene Harris (188-86, college: High Point, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Volodymyr Egorov (200-91) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. DniproAzot's coach Valeriy Plehanov felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Vladyslav Tonchenko (185-89) replied with 19 points and 8 assists and the former international forward Olexiy Onufriyev (200-82) added 16 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Mykolaiv. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. DniproAzot moved-up to ninth place. Mykolaiv lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 18 games lost. DniproAzot will play against higher ranked Ferro-ZNTU (#5) in Zaporozhye in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mykolaiv will play on the road against Cherkasy and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
