There was an upset when higher ranked Socar Petkim (14-13) was defeated at home by sixteenth ranked Istanbul DSI (8-19) 82-77 on Saturday. Socar Petkim was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Istanbul DSI forced 19 Socar Petkim turnovers. Socar Petkim was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for Surinamese-Dutch guard Charlon Kloof (190-90, college: St.Bonaventure) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Esian Henderson (206-86, college: Central Mo.) helped adding 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and American-DR Congolese center Bambale Osby (203-86, college: Maryland, agency: Octagon Europe) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Four Socar Petkim players scored in double figures. Socar Petkim's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Istanbul DSI moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Socar Petkim dropped to the ninth position with 13 games lost. Istanbul DSI will face higher ranked Mamak DSI (#13) in Ankara in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
