Very expected game when 11th ranked Kirchheim Knights (12-18) were crushed at home by sixth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (17-13) 97-76 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-76. MLP Academics Heidelberg dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Kirchheim Knights' 20. Naturalized American center Waverly Austin (211-91, college: Oregon) scored 26 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Kelvin Martin (195-89, college: Charleston So.) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Jordan Wild (203-88, college: Fresno Pacific) with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Jannik Lodders (198-92) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. MLP Academics Heidelberg have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Gotha. Kirchheim Knights lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 18 games lost.
