Regular Season Round 34: Lietuvos rytas - Dzukija 118-76

LKL top team - Lietuvos rytas (29-4) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Dzukija (17-15) in Vilnius 118-76. The game was mostly controlled by Lietuvos rytas. Dzukija managed to win fourth quarter 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lietuvos rytas shot 65.2 percent from the field. They also forced 23 Dzukija turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 56.3 percentage. Lietuvos rytas looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Dzukija's players. The former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) notched 17 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) to lead the effort and American point guard Billy Baron (188-90, college: Canisius) supported him with 13 points and 5 assists. Four Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by the former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-85) did not help to save the game for Dzukija. American forward Ryan Nicholas (201-91, college: Portland) added 14 points for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lietuvos rytas have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 29-4 record. Loser Dzukija keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost. Lietuvos rytas will meet P.Zvaigzdes (#5) in the next round. Dzukija will play against Lietkabelis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
