Regular Season Round 35: Cherkasy - Mykolaiv 95-77

The game between closely ranked teams ended with sixth ranked Cherkasy's (15-15) home victory over 7th ranked Mykolaiv (11-18) 95-77 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Cherkasy. Mykolaiv managed to win second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mykolaiv 52-17 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Cherkasy looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Mykolaiv's players. British forward Ashley Hamilton (201-88, college: Loyola Mary) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Naturalized Moldovan Andrii Kalnichenko (201-86) contributed with 14 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Cherkasy's coach Maksym Mikhelson used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Anatoliy Shundel (194-93) answered with 23 points and 4 assists and the former international forward Olexiy Onufriyev (200-82) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Mykolaiv. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Cherkasy moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ferro-ZNTU and BC Kyiv. Mykolaiv lost their ninth game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 18 games lost.
