Regular Season Round 26: Canik Bld - Botas 94-58

There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Canik Bld (9-17) crushed 9th ranked Botas (12-14) in Samsun 94-58 on Saturday. The game without a history. Canik Bld led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Botas' 28. They outrebounded Botas 49-33 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Canik Bld looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Botas' players. Kazakhstan-Belarusian forward Katerina Snytsina (188-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international forward Mehtap Gezer (191-88) contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Canik Bld players scored in double figures. The former international guard Damla Gezgin (175-90) replied with 15 points and 5 steals and American forward Lauren Ervin (191-85, college: Arkansas, agency: Two Points) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Botas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Canik Bld moved-up to tenth place. Botas at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 14 games lost.
