Regular Season Round 25: Karsiyaka - Tofas 93-80

Very expected game when 15th ranked Tofas (8-17) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Karsiyaka (16-9) 93-80 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Karsiyaka. Tofas was better in fourth quarter 31-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Karsiyaka forced 21 Tofas turnovers. American point guard Bobby Dixon (178-83, college: Troy, agency: Beo Basket) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Colombian-Spanish power forward Juan Palacios (206-85) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Karsiyaka's coach Ufuk Sarica allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American swingman Jamont Gordon (193-87, college: Mississippi St.) responded with 15 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import point guard DaShaun Wood (185-85, college: Wright St.) scored 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Karsiyaka maintains fourth place with 16-9 record. Loser Tofas dropped to the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Karsiyaka will face league's second-placed Darussafaka in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tofas will play at home against Galatasaray (#5) and hope to win that game.
