Regular Season Round 35: P.Zvaigzdes - Lietuvos rytas 81-87

LKL top team - Lietuvos rytas (30-4) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked P.Zvaigzdes (19-15) in Pasvalys 87-81. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-81. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Lietuvos rytas made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international center Antanas Kavaliauskas (208-84, college: Texas A&M, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks. International Adas Juskevicius (194-89) helped adding 12 points. Five Lietuvos rytas players scored in double figures. Forward Gytis Sirutavicius (195-83) responded with 26 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Michael Dixon (186-90, college: Memphis) scored 17 points. P.Zvaigzdes' coach Mantas Sernius rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lietuvos rytas have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 30-4 record. P.Zvaigzdes at the other side keeps the fifth position with 15 games lost. Lietuvos rytas are looking forward to face Dzukija (#6) in Alytus in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. P.Zvaigzdes will play on the road against Lietkabelis in Panevezys and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
