Regular Season Round 36: Neptunas - Siauliai 90-77

There was no surprise in Klaipeda where 7th ranked Siauliai (16-18) was defeated by third ranked Neptunas (29-6) 90-77 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Neptunas. Siauliai managed to win third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Neptunas had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-89) who helped to win the game recording 12 points and 9 assists and the former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-88) who added 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Neptunas players scored in double figures. Neptunas' coach Kazys Maksvytis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Rokas Giedraitis (198-92) with 24 points and 5 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and power forward Julius Jucikas (205-89) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Neptunas maintains third position with 29-6 record having just two points less than leader Lietuvos rytas. Loser Siauliai keeps the seventh place with 18 games lost. Neptunas will meet at home Dzukija (#6) in the next round. Siauliai will play against Nevezis and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
