Another exciting game for Redwell Gunners Oberwart (15-18) which played on the court of 5th ranked Raiffeisen Wels (18-15). Eighth ranked Redwell Gunners Oberwart won 79-72. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-11. But Raiffeisen Wels won second period 23-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Redwell Gunners Oberwart won last quarter 27-22. They made 22-of-29 charity shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Raiffeisen Wels were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Rakeem Buckles (201-90, college: FIU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Hannes Ochsenhofer (185-85) chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. Five Redwell Gunners Oberwart players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American point guard Wesley Channels (190-88, college: Austin Peay St.) with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and international Romed Vieider (195-91) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Raiffeisen Wels' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Redwell Gunners Oberwart moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Arkadia. Raiffeisen Wels at the other side dropped to the sixth position with 15 games lost. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will play against higher ranked Kapfenberg Bulls (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Raiffeisen Wels will play against UBSC Graz and hope to get back on the winning track.
