Regular Season Round 29: Socar Petkim - Buyukcekmece 76-77

Ninth-ranked Socar Petkim (14-15) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Buyukcekmece (21-8). The visitors from Buyukcekmece managed to secure only one-point victory 77-76. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Socar Petkim won third quarter 16-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American point guard D.J. Thompson (173-85, college: Appalachian St.) who scored 21 points and 6 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Center Cihan Mumcuogullari (207-83, college: Concordia, MI) chipped in 14 points. American-DR Congolese center Bambale Osby (203-86, college: Maryland, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 23 points and 8 rebounds and American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Buyukcekmece maintains third place with 21-8 record having just two points less than leader Denizli, which they share with Balikesir. Socar Petkim lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth position with 15 games lost. Buyukcekmece's next round opponent will be Mamak DSI (#12) in Ankara and are hoping to win another game. Socar Petkim will play on the road against Balikesir and hope to win that game.
